The IAPD driver improvement programs go well beyond simple defensive driving. Through classroom instruction and unique track-side hands-on training, our effective and proven methods produce safer and more knowledgeable drivers.
Dick Turner developed the methods used in our classes based on the belief that there are both mental and physical aspects of driving. In the classroom, drivers learn the physics and the mechanics of vehicle operations. The courses break down the theory behind offensive and defensive driving techniques and teach strategies that students can use to drive more safely and efficiently.
On the Track: Low Speed—High Stress MethodsBeyond the classroom, the track-side hands-on training uses our unique, low speed, high stress method of teaching safe driving techniques. A series of carefully designed driving exercises creates a more realistic simulation of the tensions and situations experienced while driving at highway speeds. This permits the student to concentrate on the driving instructions, imprinting a strong knowledge of correct driving methods, and serves to make every participant a better and safer driver.
