The Courses: Emergency Responders

Emergency vehicles must be driven in all conditions: on rainy nights, foggy days, under white-out snow conditions, and in all sorts of traffic. Getting to the scene to save lives and property is paramount. A collision on the way not only takes out that vehicle but requires other units already responding to the emergency to now respond to their own.

The driver usually has two roles: being a professional driver and as an emergency response professional. These courses help to increase the driver’s knowledge, skills, and confidence so they will be more able to focus on the job at hand: saving lives and protecting property.

Fire/EMS Emergency Vehicle Operation

  • In this course, student drivers learn the principals of driving techniques required to safely navigate urban and rural roads under a variety of driving conditions.
  • This course also includes a special focus on safe cornering techniques in vehicles with a high center of gravity.
  • Did you know that over 50% of accidents involving fire and EMS vehicles happen while returning from an emergency call? This course addresses this issue through understanding of stress and fatigue and how it relates to perception and driving abilities.
  • Through the use of our low-speed high-stress methods, students gain increased confidence in their ability to apply efficient driving techniques and operate a variety of specialized Fire and EMS vehicles.
